Over seven thousand years ago, before it was called Iraq, before it was called Persia, before the writing of the Old Testament, before the age of the Pharaohs, ..Assyria was that land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers; home to the hated King Gilgamesh.

GILGAMESH, oldest and most revolutionary work of literature known to mankind, will be performed August 1st, and 2nd and 3rd at the Duffin Theatre, 197 East St., Lenox, MA. This  production of the ancient manuscript follows the warrior-king from his divine rise to power to his victories and struggles with the Gods; risking life and love on his tumultuous quest to find the answers to happiness and immortality. What he found was much less mysterious than he ever expected... and it was always there, right at his finger tips.

This production is being directed by the distinguished director and author, Benjamin Barber and will feature Jeff Laurant, who also adapted the script for the stage.  Laurant holds a degree in the Interpretation of Literature from Northwestern University and has performed internationally.  The Irish Independent called him, "a performer of such undoubted talent, you will be hearing his name again." The show will run nightly at 8:30PM with Saturday and Sunday Matinee at 2:00 PM.

Proceeds will benefit the Berkshire Project, a non profit working with youth at risk in the region.
